Dancing Cows

Students in Prep have learned how to follow several directed line drawings this year. Following a directed line drawing is an excellent skill at this level as it gives students success with drawing whilst also developing their skills and confidence. Animals were a popular subject this year, with students in Prep learning how to draw a dog, cat, fish, turtle, elephant, and of course, these wonderful dancing cows!

We discussed the features of cows such as legs, ears, tails, udder, etc. Students watched an example of a how to draw a cow using simple and familiar shapes and lines. Once confident, students were directed to draw their own 'dancing cow'. We talked about how to make the cow look as though it was dancing by adding movement in the legs. Students also learned how to create a horizon line in their picture, and finally added colour with poster paints. We think they are just adorable, well done Preps!
