Van Gogh's Sunflowers

Students in grades 3 and 4 studied the work of Vincent Van Gogh and looked at many paintings from his sunflower series. We looked at shape and colour in particular, and learned how to draw and paint just like Van Gogh. 

An important element of art, VALUE, was discussed in this artwork. Students were shown how to demonstrate value in their artwork by mixing paint colours to create light and shadow. You can see where light and shadow has been created and colours blended on the vase in these artworks. Bold outlines were also added in keeping with the Van Gogh style of painting. A brilliant effort by grade 3 and 4 students!
